City Observatory

The “Athens of the North”. This folly was built to commemorate those who lost their lives in the Napoleonic wars.
How to get there
From the east end of princess street (near Waverley Station or the Balmoral Hotel) keep walking until you reach Waterloo place. The road veers around to the left. You should see steps to your left. After that follow the path and within 5 minutes you should be at the top. If mobility is limited there is an access road further on that you can also follow. This is located just past the steps.
